Stocking Stitch

Stocking stitch, also called stockinette stitch, abbreviated as st st, is probably the most common type of knitting in knitwear, hand knit or machine knit. To make stocking stitch, knit all right side rows, and purl all wrong side rows. Reverse stocking stitch, also called reverse stockinette stitch, abbreviated as rev st st, is the same except you purl on the right side of the work, and knit on the wrong side of the work.
